Friday the 13th Wreath

“I don't want to scare anyone, but I'm going to give it to you straight about Jason. His body was never recovered from the lake after he drowned. The old-timers say he's still out there.- Camp Crystal Lake is jinxed.- It's got a death curse."

-Friday the 13th, the Final Chapter

If you’re a horror fan, you’re probably always looking for fun horror décor. Sometimes if you can’t find that perfect thing, you can make it. Like a Friday the 13th wreath.

There are a fair number of supplies you will need, mainly the wreath itself which you can get at the craft store. Because of the size of my mask I opted for a medium size wreath. You can be really creative about what you want to use.

I got fake plants that remind me of a soggy lake. Some straw, old tattered cloth, pinecones, moss, of course the key element is the mask!

My Jason Voorhees mask is handmade and made especially for me, but you can order these masks online if you don’t want to make one yourself. Etsy is a great place to look. I also printed out a Camp Crystal Lake sign.

I cut it out and pasted it onto cardboard and then painted the edges.

Now it’s time to plan. I arranged my plants on my wreath to see how I liked where everything would go. I suggest trying multiple ways until you find something you love. Then TAKE A PICTURE! Use the picture as your guide.

Now the fun, and messy, part… the glue. I used hot glue, this takes a lot of hot glue so be prepared.

I just started by gluing down the plants, then each layer I would press and hold until a little dry and just really secured all elements on the wreath. After I glued on the cloth, mask, and sign I was ready for the final touches. Important note, the glue sometimes shows. I found a solution for that. Moss and pinecones!

You carefully glue moss and pinecones over the glue spots and just in general around for accent.

You can also cover where stems end on your fake plants, or any mistakes you’ve made.

Then once it fully dries you can hang up your spooky horror themed wreath!
