Calcifer is a fire demon from the Studio Ghibli film Howl’s Moving Castle. Which happens to be in my top three Studio Ghibli films. So, I decided I absolutely needed a Calcifer of my very own!
He’s cute and he’s fiery, a perfect companion.
I used felt for this project but you can use fleece or other soft and cuddly fabric as well. It’s very simple, even if you can’t sew you can use fabric glue to hold this little guy together! The size is also up to you based on the sizing of the template. You can make it huge or mini. Here is the template I made for a plush Calcifer.
To assemble you do the following steps in order:
Cut out all pieces from the template
Sew the yellow to the orange.
Sew the orange to the red.
Sew on the white parts of the eyes.
Sew on the black parts of the eyes.
Sew around leaving an inch at the bottom open.
Stuff it with some stuffed animal stuffing.
Sew it closed.
Snuggle your new very own Calcifer!
(As I mentioned, if you can't sew, use fabric glue!)
